Soul-ache

I woke one morning with a throbbing soul-ache

A longing for beauty

A thirst for truth

A hunger for freedom

An insatiable craving for blue skies

And open horizons

The desire for courage

A fantasy of noble deeds

An obsession with kindness

Intoxicated by imagination

Woken up by a dream of difference

A sense of being grounded to the earth

Like a tree

Yet touching the sky

For such a blessed affliction

There is no cure

But an invitation to indulge

The passions of virtue

The mystery of Loving Presence

The recognition that our home

Is in God

Our hope in a love that bridges death

And stirs our hearts with longing

For what is to come

Beyond all possible comprehension

World without end
